Pyjama Artists

Sometimes the first thing that needs to be done in the morning is an art project.

No time to brush your hair when creativity strikes...

More about these soon...

Love in the Mail and other Things

We got some love in the mail - Thank you Oma and Opa! We already read through the books. :)

What do you think we made with this?

"Help me!"
My crappy camera couldn't quite capture the drama...L cracks me up!

We are back!

After taking a little break, we just had a ton of things going on, and I wanted to enjoy as much time with the children as possible. Z is losing teeth like crazy, and I oh so love those toothless smiles.

Swings. He can not get enough of them. There is a big, fat smile hiding behind the seat...

And yes, we had some snow recently. I love how they cherish the seasons. We go outside and play ever day, and if we don't something is definitely missing.

What he loves

This beach-themed mobile (two seagulls, a star fish, and a crab) Z and L made for him for his birthday.

Unstacking this stacking toy.

And, as always, his silkies.

Last week

Because I am trying to focus on the beauty in our lives. Right now more than ever. And besides, we are not that photogenic right now, thanks to the flu...

We love this little nature center near some beautiful trails.

It is always a challenge to make sure nobody falls into the little creek. The water comes straight from the mountains and is ICY this time of the year.

Autumn in my little corner of the world

Decorative gourds from the Farmer's Market - two blocks from my house. I am so lucky.

Autumn hikes with waffles and sticks - what else does a boy need?

We saw this interesting wasp nest.

Oh, yes, it is pretty around here, especially in autumn.

Snow!

It snowed last night. And it is cold! The children were so very excited, they started singing snow-songs... I love how they are so appreciative of what every day brings.

One!

I can not believe it has been a year already! Happy, happy Birthday my sweet boy! We are so lucky to have you in our lives!

One year ago. Not the most flattering picture of me, but labor was long.

Little Visitor

Today was one of those amazingly beautiful Colorado autumn days, sunny, golden, and warm, and the children met this little fellow in the back yard...after looking at him for a while we put him on one of our ash trees and watched him disappear upwards with amazing speed.

October is here!

It's time to harvest the last vegetables today, it's supposed to get cold tonight. There are a lot more beets to pull, but I am waiting for Z and L to help me after school.

I love the view from our back yard. It doesn't have much of a view compared to many other properties in this town, but I still love it.

M loves the falling leaves and the wind. My autumn baby!

L insisted on shorts today, but quickly chose to put on some Huggalugs. He loves stripes. And tie-dye. And a funky combination of both!

Ghost Town

Last weekend we went to a ghost town about 2.5 hours away from here in the mountains. The children loved it! We have recently read the Little House series, and they were excited to travel back in time...and I once again came to the conclusion that history doesn't have to lead hundreds of years into the past to be fascinating...you have to appreciate what you have. And you can't beat those mountains!

The aspen were beautiful, and we had a little picnic on a stream. A gorgeous day!

Our autumn seasonal table - it's a work in progress. Yesterday we dipped some leaves in beeswax to preserve them - we will make more for a mobile soon.
